Victory on AB 1751: CSAEW Flexes Its Power, Protects Prevailing Wage
Thanks to the strong turnout from dozens of IBEW members from across the state at the Senate Housing Committee on 6.24.26, CSAEW was successful in protecting prevailing wage provisions while removing the Carpenters’ dangerous and undermining wage language from AB 1751, a housing bill.
This victory demonstrates the power of the electrical unions as well as the unity among the most of California’s building trades community. The large turnout and broad coalition opposed to slashing trades members’ wages in half, ensured that AB 1751 can move forward to help solve the housing crisis without sacrificing trades members’ livelihoods.
A special thank you to Senator Jesse Arreguín for supporting the trades in this fight, and to IBEW 569 Political Organizer Cori Schumacher for helping to organize the electrical attendees, and to IBEW 1245 for showing up strong in solidarity with our Inside IBEW Local Unions.
The CSAEW, which represents over 104,000 electricians around the state, will continue to advocate for its members and uphold its standards of safety and good wages.
Thank you to all the members who took the time to keep their union strong!
