Promoting Stronger and Safer Communities
Our job at CSAEW is not only to represent our 104,000 members in California and Nevada but also ensure the communities where our members live are safe and provide a strong economic base that delivers high-wage jobs. That’s why we are in regular dialogue with our elected officials and come to Sacramento twice each year to lobby for bills that protect our members and the communities where we live and raise our families.
We just returned from our Spring Lobby Day in Sacramento where we pressed lawmakers to support legislation that makes our job sites safer, protects our members work, and expands EV infrastructure for a greener future. We also opposed efforts to weaken our successful apprenticeship program that is creating hundreds of good middle-class jobs each year in our communities, as well as ensuring quality housing projects by continuing to pay long-negotiated wages.
As the California governor’s race tightens, our 27 business managers made the difficult decision to vote for a dual endorsement. After much discussion with individual local members, CSAEW has voted to endorse Xavier Becerra and Antonio Villarigosa.
We believe both of our endorsed candidates would be excellent governors to lead our state. Read more about our Bacerra endorsement below.
