IBEW Urges Governor Newsom to Act on Integrated Resource Planning

Dear Governor Newsom:

During your recent trip to COP30, you proudly and correctly explained that, in California, reducing carbon emissions and economic prosperity are not mutually exclusive but rather intertwined. You highlighted California’s remarkable record of creating jobs building renewable energy generation and California’s tremendous GDP growth. We wholeheartedly agree.

IBEW members have benefited greatly from the thousands of megawatts of new renewable generation built in California. Several thousand Californians have established stable middle-class careers through our apprenticeship programs and tens of thousands of California journeymen have been working steadily for the past decade, enjoying wages and benefits that place them solidly in the middle class. This is exactly how it should be done
