Honoring Our Lineworkers and Keeping Our Profession Safe

This month the CSAEW is focusing on worker safety, and the growing mental health crisis in our profession.

A special shoutout to the thousands of electrical lineworkers in California and Nevada who keep our power running during summer heat, rainstorms and ferocious winds. Every year we honor these brave men and women who climb utility poles in fierce weather to keep the rest of us safe and comfortable. Read below about this year’s July 10 Linemen Appreciation Day.

There’s also an alarming rise mental health issues among our electricians and all of the building trades. You can read below how IBEW 47 in Southern California is tackling the issue head-on with their programs to address this crisis.

We’re also announcing our endorsements for CA statewide officers for the November 2026 election. Next month we will feature our take on the propositions that will also be on the November ballot. And finally, in our mission to protect our members and their work, we’re featuring our support and opposition to bills currently working through the legislature.

Congratulations to our 10 scholarship winners in the SCE/IBEW 47 program. We wish them well in their training and future careers.

As always, I am honored to preside over this powerful and committed group of workers.

Stay safe, stay cool this summer, and stay involved.

In unity,

Neal Lauzon
President CSAEW
