An Exceptional End to the Legislative Session
Wow! We ended the CA 2026 legislative session with some impressive victories for our members. You can read about them below – from new mandates for responsible data center development, to increased penalties for assault against our utility workers, to growing our electrical infrastructure, and creating thousands of new, good middle-class jobs for our members.
Thank you to all of our CSAEW members around the state who called, sent emails, and lobbied in person to help pass these landmark bills into law. We showed the power of solidarity to make life better for our 104,000 members and the communities where they live.
We are proud of our collaboration with the Blue Green Alliance on data centers to protect ratepayers and support responsible growth on data centers. We are all in this together, and we must find common ground in protecting the environment while creating high-quality jobs for our members and the community.
We are also just back from our IBEW International Conference in San Diego where we highlighted our local Southern California unions and their impressive fight in flipping San Diego from an anti-union city 20 years ago to one in which we’ve built a more equitable region through union power.
Please read the details below. We are truly stronger together!
In solidarity,
Neal Lauzon
President CSAEW
